The Compass evolves in R2021x to not only give you access to your Roles & Apps, but also to let you navigate the entire 3DS Solutions portfolio.
The compass becomes the place to discover, understand and even preview these solutions in a very comprehensive way, always available and up to date. It gives you the opportunity to discover values you could benefit from in your job and more generally in your company business.
We also took this opportunity to update the overall experience with streamlined access to Apps and a global UI refresh.
Let’s take a closer look on what’s new :
The Compass now works as a single button. The first level of navigation has 3 sections :
- ME to access your Roles & Apps
- COMPANY to discover the Roles available on your platform and request them
- WORLD to navigate 3DS Solutions Portfolio and learn more about its values.
ME and WORLD also include 2 tabs :
- As a System of Operations reveals the solutions, Roles & Apps serving the industry and associated disciplines
- As a Business Model reveals new categories of experiences and services serving any person in its business environment
ME : Your Roles & Apps
In As a System of Operations, you find your Roles and Apps in a very similar fashion as in previous versions:
- My Roles section reveals the roles granted to you. Click on a Role to see the related Apps and to discover its values. New Role icons reveal the related Brand, for a quick identification of their domain of activity:
- My Favorite Apps still allows you to quickly access the apps you add there. Simply drag & drop your apps to add, reorder or remove them from this section.
- My Apps section now shows all the apps you have access to in one single list, no more sorted by compass quadrant. A lighter icon style improves the readability of the app symbols.
- Search now works for Roles & Apps at the same time
- Finally, the possibility to activate or deactivate Roles has been removed
Your custom roles & apps are still shown there.
In As a Business Model, access the Trading Experiences and their qualified ecosystems of industrial service providers: MAKE for on demand manufacturing, PART SUPPLY for on demand component sourcing and ENGINEERING for on demand engineering service.

In As a Business Model, new categories of Experiences serve any persons in their business environment. The first Universe available here is related to Trading Experiences with MAKE for on demand manufacturing, PART SUPPLY for on demand component sourcing and ENGINEERING for on demand engineering service. More to come there with new universes and new experiences.
Web & Native (Installed) Apps
This new compass experience is available in Web Apps as well as Native Apps.
NB : in Native apps, the play button is still used in many apps to play available experiences such as simulations.
Users Communities
The Access to Brand users communities, previously in the compass, moves to the top bar, in the “help” menu. We also tool this opportunity to provide a direct access to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Users Community.
