How to run your CAD software on a virtual machine, so you can keep innovating

Since a couple of years, it is possible to use Virtual Desktop Infrastructure to run CAD applications such as Catia and Solidworks. There's an article from late 2014 here that serves as a good example how PSA is using a so-called private cloud to run Catia for remote workers. https://www.digitalengineering247.com/article/psa-peugeot-citroen-drives-virtual-desktop-infrastrucure-forward/

Now, what if your company cannot afford or does not have this type of infrastructure, and you would still like to run your CAD software from a browser?

There are a couple of alternatives:

1) FRA.ME from Nutanix in conjunction with so-called GPU-instances from AWS or Microsoft Azure. You can find out more about their offerings here: https://fra.me/

2) You can use a Desktop-as-a-Service provider such as Cloudalize (https://www.cloudalize.com/) or designairspace (full disclosure: we are the author of this post) https://www.designairspace.com/ who offer ready-to-go Virtual Desktop for GPU workloads.

Hope this helps to keep you innovating
