WHY : There is a limited supply of ventilators in hospitals currently and doctors are needing to make the hard choice of who should have the potentially life-saving aid of a ventilator. In light of this shortage, makers are coming up with mechanized solutions to leverage existing supplies like manual Bag Valve Masks (BVM) and automating it to behave like a ventilator for someone who may need help breathing.
WHAT : Build a motorized and timed mechanism that helps to pump the BVM into the patient.
HOW : Driven by a windshield wiper motor, this design uses parts that can be easily milled from a sheet of plywood or aluminum.
