So far I have been unable to work with this year's edition of DraftSight, because larger cads were simply unworkable as I wouldn't be able to select objects by clicking. The object would flash as if selected, but immediately go unselected and console would only write an empty line.

Today I gave DS another try with the new SP2 version, but the same issue persisted. However, I spent some time in options trying to find the reason for this behavior and I found the solution for me. Unchecking 'Enable Press and Drag for entity movement' seems to solve it for me. It can be found in Tools -> Options - > User Preferences -> Drafting Options -> Press and Drag Entity Movement. This was only an issue with large cads as my PC stalled a bit after every selection and I guess the system interpreted it as a click-and-drag for some reason. I don't need it enabled so this is fine for me.

I know a few people had similar issues back when I posted about this months ago so I figured I would share the fix that worked for me at least.
