Crop CAD-drawing

Hello community,

I am completely new to CAD, so taking a CAD-course might be better than a forum for me. However, I will use DraftSight for only one very simple purpose: Crop. So please understand that I do not intend to take a fully fledged CAD course.

All I need to know is: How-to rectangularily crop a .DWG drawing in exactly the same way as you usually crop smartphone-taken pictures using typical apps for that purpose. After cropping is done, I need to save that cropped DWG drawing for import into another program.

I already googled around and discovered the TRIM and CLIPREFERENCE commands, however, as I lack the basics, I could not manage to get the job done. Could anyone please give me a hint on how-to do that, or provide a good link?

Thank you for your help and kind regards,
Stefan
