In xHighlight, a handy selection tool was added several month ago: Select with similar colors or similar instances.
The example below shows the differences between these two.
The drone flies with multiple propellers. How to select all the blades?
Easy. Right click on one blade and pick from the context menu: Select with Similar instances as shown below.
Notice only 4 blades on one side was selected. Why?
Turns out in the modeling App xDesign, they were given the same name automatically by the Symmetry command: Symmetry of Propeller Blade. The other side has the original name: Propeller Blade.
So we can modify the part names in xDesign, or try another selection method.
As shown below, since all the blades have been assigned the same material, we can simply using the command: Select with similar color. Now all blades are selected🎉
Hey @ML just curious about the exact meaning of "Similar" in these two handy commands. How similar do colors or instances need to be to qualify for a group selection? Thanks a lot😄
