To assist purchasing decisions, a Part List comes with a column of Quantity by default.
Then how to build the accurate quantity of multiple instances?
There are both a manual way and an automatic way😉
- Let's start with the manual way first, just to understand how it works.
- Select one bolt instance and toggle on its Part List property on the right-hand panel. Now you'll see the Part List table showing up with this part line.
- Manually select another instance, and you may see a different ID for it, which leads to a separate line. What we want is actually one line of a quantity of 2.
- Now in the ID text box, we can manually enter the same ID as the first instance. Notice these two lines are combined into one with the quantity of 2, as expected. We can repeat the same step for all other instances. The gist is simple: manually enter the same ID to merge with other lines sharing a particular ID.
- Now let's do it the automatic way.
- Remember we talked about the easy selection in a pior post? So simply right click on an instance and click "Select with similar instance"
- Now with all the instances picked up, on the right hand panel, just turn on the Part List toggle, which will apply to all instances, instead of only one🤩
- Look at the table! The quantity is correctly set to 6 tabulating all instances automatically. Of course, you can modify the Description as well, which is applied to all.
Not only does this save lots of time and repetitive effort, but also automatically ensures the accurate counting of quantity, 6, 15, 29, hundreds, or whatever.
For sure, you can use a Selection Set to pick up all instances to display Part List of them.
Hope you find it helpful!
