In an exploded view, the motor rotor ideally should stay aligned vertically with the stator housing to indicate their relationship.
So how do we aligned them directionally?
This is why you may enjoy the 3D Aligner in xHighlight.
It’s like a magnet to carry your part to align with certain directions (edges, axes…).
Its button and tooltip are shown below.
First, attach the magnet to the part to be repositioned.
There are various anchor geometries and resultant derived directions to attach to. Turn on/off the geometry filters at the bottom to make your selection easier: point, center, axis, edge, circle, plane.
E.g in this case below, I turned off all the filters but the axis.
Now you can drag the part via the magnet toward the destination.
Move it closer to the stator housing and let the software figure out the derived axis.
Then move along the axis to find a spot to place the rotor. If the mouse cursor deviates from the axis, the axis may disappear. Just move closer to the housing to find it again😅
Overall, I like the magnet. Feels pretty intuitive although it does take a bit getting-used-to😉
