⚠️  #A. Allow LAN Permission to avoid issues with 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher. That prompt should be triggered during installation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⚠️   #B. Disable antivirus, VPN, firewall or adblockers during installation. They are known to interfere. SentinelOne is particularly known to cause these issues by blocking 3DEXPERIENCELauncher.exe and/or 3DEXPERIENCELauncherBackbone.exe.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⚠️   #C. Install ONLY using latest version of supported browsers (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge). Brave is not supported and known to cause problems. Also, test in "InPrivate/incognito" mode if regular mode will not resolve problem.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⚠️  #D. Adding "https://*.3ds.com" exception to Trusted Sites (Control Panel >>> Internet Options >>> Security tab >>> Trusted Sites > click on "Sites") worked for some users in the past.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⚠️  #E. Enhanced Protected Mode and TLS 1.2
Go to Control Panel >>> Internet Options >>> Advanced tab >>> Disable "Enable Enhanced Protected Mode" and enable "Use TLS 1.2." Test results.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⚠️  #F.  Firewall outbound rules may be blocking the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher from opening. Use the following procedure to find and disable any outbound rules created for 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher programs:

  • Open the “Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security” application and navigate to Outbound Rules.
  • Select the Action column to view all the outbound rules that were created to block applications. Then select outbound rules specific to 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher applications. For Example:

    - "C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\3DEXPERIENCE Launcher\\3DEXPERIENCELauncherBackbone.exe"
    - "C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\3DEXPERIENCE Launcher\\3DEXPERIENCELauncher.exe"
    - "C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\3DEXPERIENCE Launcher\\3DEXPERIENCELauncherGUI.exe"

Select “Disable Rule”, to unblock the application and allow seamless connectivity (post by Sohan Dhake).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #1. SW Design suddenly crashing on startup.
The issue only affects computers updated with Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime 146.0.3856.xx update started March 13, 2026. Temporary solution was to rename SWK3DCompassAddin.dll to SWK3DCompassAddin.dll.bak located in "C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x\\win_b64\\code\\bin\\SWXDesktopAddins"
Permanent solution was issue with HotFix 1.8.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #2. "Installation data cannot be retrieved" or "Unable to retrieve install data" errors
Surprisingly, the simplest solution to the problem is to log off, delete browser cache, restart browser. If this doesn't work do it again this time log off, remove cache and all .3ds cookies.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #3. "You do not have access to this widget" or "License not granted. The requested role is not assigned to you (License error 1002)" errors could be sign of missing roles. Make sure that you have proper roles and if not assign them to yourself by following Assigning licenses for multiple orders for 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers role and Introducing the All-in-One SOLIDWORKS xDesign Role for xDesign role.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #4. "No compatible SOLIDWORKS version found"
1. Subscribed to xDesign instead of 3DExperience Solidworks for Makers.
2. Downloaded Dassault Systemes xCAD Connectors 3DEXPERIENCE R2025x (SOLIDWORKS Add-in) instead od SW Design proper (3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Desktop)
3. Don't have proper roles assigned. Make sure that you have proper roles and if not assign them to yourself by following Assigning licenses for multiple orders for 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers role.
4. Proper installation is not recognized.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #5. "License not granted: XWB (License Error 20)" or "SOLIDWORKS Manager is not installed. Reinstall SOLIDWORKS or install SOLIDWORKS Login Manager".
1. Close Solidworks and uninstall SOLIDWORKS Login Manager.
2. Restart windows to ensure a clean system state.
3. Reinstall SOLIDWORKS Login Manager. Navigate to "C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x\\win_b64\\resources\\MSI\\SWLoginMgr"
4. Run 'setup.exe'.
5. Launch SOLIDWORKS Connected (inspired by solution by Sohan Dhake).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #6. "Unable to start SOLIDWORK Connected. License Error 310"
The Time Synchronization is reason for the error. The client machine's clock must be synchronized with the license server's clock. This post will show you how to do it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #7. "SOLIDWORKS install failed with error code: 1603"
A generic error from the Windows Installer. This problem is not unique to Solidworks but can affect virtually any windows program. It is most commonly cause by antivirus/firewall, permission issues, corrupted prerequisite files, corrupted previous installation, corrupted or missing Windows installer components, leftover file from previous installation or different versions of Solidworks, software already installed, encrypted or substitute drive and insufficient disk space. Clean Installation is recommended course of action.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #8. "Failed to get MSI version for UpgradeCode [{00F50064-7000-11D3-8CFE-1050048383C9}].
Error code: 1605
Unknown key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\Installer\\Products\\593A1E8712DFA994192A1653AB16216B"

*Please be careful when modifying registries. Renaming/Modifying wrong registries may lead to system corruption*

  1. Run Registry Editor.
Open 'Start' menu > search for "Registry Editor"
  2. Navigate to- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\Installer\\UpgradeCodes
  3. Take the first part of GUID and reverse it, in your case it is 00F50064 and its reverse string is 46005F00.

Then search for 46005F00 >once you get a match > delete the its parent subkey (it will be a kind of GUID without braces).
You can use the shortcut "Ctrl+F" to search for the string "46005F00"
Run the setup again for installation and test. Let us know the results. (solution copied and pasted from this post: Installation error)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #9. "Retrieving the MSI version for UpgradeCode [{8F7A916D-6AB1-3CF1-996B-FAD5AC3C0AC2}] failed
The property is unrecognized
Error code: 1608
Invalid data in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Installer\\UserData\\S-1-5-18\\Products\\46002109070000000000040000F01FEC
Action CheckInstalledMsiVersionAction from feature CODE\\win_b64\\SWXDesktopInsPreqVBA71 failed"
Apply solution using method from issue #13.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #10. Installation of the SOLIDWORKS Login Manager failed Code: 1610.
Not a lot of data exist about this error but apparently reinstalling Login Manager doesn't work (Login Manager can not be installed Code 1610). Clean Installation could be solution.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #11. Error 1644.
Error 1644 is a fatal installation error often caused by Windows security permissions, blocked installation files, or active antivirus software preventing the Installation Manager from operating correctly. Disabling antivirus or removing leftovers of previous installation could help resolve issue. If problem still persist Clean Installation will be required.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #12. Failed code: 3010
This isn't really an error but generic Windows installer message that indicates "ERROR_SUCCESS_REBOOT_REQUIRED" which signifies successful installation and requires restart to finalize pending changes to the system. It frequently appears when installing or updating and forces the installation to stop until the machine reboots. Restarting Windows usually takes care of the problem. If the error is in reference to .NET Framework it may indicate a failed update/installation. In this case use Control Panel to repair. If this fails, a clean uninstall and reinstall may be required.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #13. "DSYEnvMgt failed: rc= 3221225781.
Technical details:
Action LaunchAppAction from feature CODE\\win_b64\\DSYAdmEnvMgt failed.
Action ID: EnvCreation"
This error appears during installation and typically indicates a corrupt installation environment and/or file permission issues. Clean Installation is recommended course of action.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #14. "Unable to start SOLIDWORKS Design. We are unable to authenticate your license.  Check your internet connection and try again".
There is not enough data related to this error. In post "unable to authenticate your license" error user was able
to pinpoint problem to data corruption in .NET framework files and take appropriate steps to resolve it.
Another user used following solution to resolve that error:
"Open Windows® Registry Editor by searching it in Windows Search.

  1. Navigate to the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Dassault Systemes\\SOLIDWORKSPDM\\Servers\\3DEXPERIENCE\\

  2. If the SW_Login_Disable registry-key value is True, change it to False. To modify it, right-click the registry and modify it.

  3. Start SOLIDWORKS® Design from the Makers platform(https://solidworks.com/makers-cloud)."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #15 "Installation error"  (yep, that's the name of error)
One of the strangest errors I've ever seen, has presumably something to do with an authentication. It appears on the beginning of the installation process preventing it to start.
Possible Solution: Author wrote: "Solved: I opened Solidworks Visualize and it triggered the login popup that never popped up before. I logged in and tried to relaunch Solidworks and it opened." From Local version of Solidworks maker show's installation error?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #16. "An incomplete installation has been found in this directory..."
This error is typically caused by residual files from a previous failed installation or update. You can attempt to delete "C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x\\InstallData\\Incomplete' folder and restart installation. If restarting installation fails Clean Installation could be required.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #17. Splash Screen stuck on "Loading Registry...". Solution that worked in the past:
1. Removal Windows 11 Update (KB5074109) as suggested by Jarosław Ziółkowski in SOLIDWORKS Maker 2026 freezing on startup after Windows 11 Update KB5074109
2. Disable the NVIDIA Graphics in Device Manager
3. Solution by Алексей Викторович in post Solidworks not starting.
4. Another possible solution is to replace Game Ready driver with Studio Driver. Studio Drivers are specialized drivers design for professional applications like Premiere Pro, Blender and CAD apps. They will give you much better performance with SW while still handle gaming.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #18. "Action RegInternalAction from feature CODE\\win_b64\\SOLIDWORKS_3DEXP_Desktop.media failed"
This error appearing during a 3DExperience Solidworks installation usually indicates a failure to register .DLLs, permission issues, corrupted download or a conflict with existing, older installation files, often resulting in error code 1603 (solution issue #12)Clean Installation is recommended course of action.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #19.  SWXDesktopInsSWKPP failed (code:12) (often accompanied by error 1603 Error #12)
Generally indicates a failure to install a specific component, often due to a corrupted installation, pre-existing software conflicts, restricted permission issues, particularly with 3DEXPERIENCE/Maker versions or antivirus interference. You can try to fix this by repairing the installation via Windows Control Panel, running the installer as administrator, or uninstalling previous versions, temporarily disabling security software and cleaning up temporary files. Clean Installation could also be solution.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #20. catvirtualvaultsystem.dll error
This error points out to a broken registry entries, missing or corrupted dynamic link library files, often related to security, vaulting, or specific software components, which can be resolved by reinstalling the relevant application, updating Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, running the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) or Clean Installation.
Manually re-registering the DLL can also be attempted.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #21. mfc100u.dll or mfc140u.dll errors
Those error indicate a missing or corrupted Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) library from Visual Studio 2022, often occurring after Windows updates or software installations. You can try to repair from Programs and Features or download and install the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package" (both x86 and x64 versions) directly from Microsoft, followed by a system restart.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #22. Could not load SolidWorks DLL: sldsearchu.dll error
This rare error usually indicates a corrupted SOLIDWORKS installation, missing file, or conflicts with Microsoft security update KB3072630 that interferes with registry keys. To fix this, repair your SOLIDWORKS installation via the Windows Control Panel, or re-register the DLL file using regsvr32 in the command prompt. If that doesn't help Clean Installation could be required.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #23. "SWK3DCompassAddin.dll registration failed code: 3" error
Generally indicates "path not found" or missing dependencies (often Visual C++ runtimes) which is commonly caused by insufficient permissions, missing files, or a failed SolidWorks update. IMHO it could also be cause be renaming WK3DCompassAddin.dll as a temporary solution to SW Design suddenly crashing on startup (#1 on the list) and not renaming it back. Renaming WK3DCompassAddin.dll to original name, install/Repair C++ Redistributables or re-registering .dll could be solution.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #24. "You don't have access to this 3DEXPERIENCE Platform"
Most common reason for this error are:
1. Expired Subscription.
2. Wrong credentials. Use same credentials you used for making purchase so that you get access to the same tenant, and any data previously saved on the platform.
3. Server maintenance or server failure. Check 3DEXPERIENCE platform SaaS Support for current status.
4. Dirty cache. Try clearing the cache and cookies.
5. Using wrong link. Use https://solidworks.com/makers-cloud to access platform.
6. In rare case, improperly deployed account is the reason. An adjustment has to be made on the backend and only Dassault staff can help you with that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #25. "The provided port is unreachable"
This error indicates a communication failure with the launcher, often caused by an outdated version, incompatible browser, dirty cache, expired certificate or lack of LAN Permissions. Resolve this by clearing browser cache, restarting browser, reinstalling launcher, changing browser (Edge, Chrome or Firefox), disable firewalls or antivirus, enable pop-ups for the website, ensure the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher service is running and adding LAN Permissions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #26. "Failed to initialize installer".
Error is often result of insufficient permissions, corrupted temporary files, blocked installation files, or antivirus interference. Common solutions include clearing the C:\\Temp folder, disable antivirus/firewall, restarting Windows, reinstalling launcher.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #27. "The file 'DSYLauncherBackbone' cannot be installed" because file cannot be found in cabinet file Sample.cab'..."
Not enough data exist about this error. It could be caused by blocked network connections, active antivirus software, lack of administrative permissions. In post DSYLauncherBackbone Error During Install user resolved problem by Clean Installation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #28. "Failed to continue. Cannot reinstall in this directory. Another version of the same media is already installed here".
This error is caused be leftovers of previous version or failed installation. Solution to this error is removal of all existing SW components, leftover installation directories/files, clearing both Windows and user temp folders and doing Clean Installation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #29. "Failed to continue. Cannot install in a non-empty directory. Remove the contents of this directory, or choose an empty one"
Could be trigger by failed or potentially corrupted installation files. The solution is to uninstall any existing "3D Experience" and "3D Experience Launcher" from Control Panel. If that doesn't work rename or delete C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE folder and C:\\ProgramData\\DassaultSystemes\\3DEXPERIENCELauncher
IMPORTANT INFO: Always reboot your machine after removing old files to ensure clean system state and before attempting a fresh installation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #30. "Failed to continue. No content in file c:\\Program files\\Dassault Systemes\\Solidworks3DEXPERIENCE\\InstallData\\ Installed.cmp"
Is caused by a file or installation issue related to missing or corrupt files or incorrect file paths. Clean Installation is solution to the issue.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #31. "Error occurred while executing action" error.
Is a generic message usually tied to missing file templates, corrupted file references, insufficient permissions or corrupted installation. Clean Installation is recommended course of action.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #32. "SOLIDWORKS Visualize cleanup fails".
This rare error happens due to locked files, corrupted settings and possibly GPU issues. Clean Installation is recommended course of action.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #33. Download button not showing!
There are few reason download button would not show:
1. Improperly configured antivirus, VPN, firewall or adblocker may be a reason. Disable them for the time of installation. SentinelOne is particularly known to cause these issues (by blocking 3DEXPERIENCELauncherBackbone.exe)
2. Using unsupported browser. Chrome, Firefox, and Edge are ONLY supported browsers. Brave is known to cause problems.
3. Running non Win10/11 compatible computer.
4. You had purchased SOLIDWORKS xDesign for Makers which is browser-based. You can check the which subscription you have @Subscription Page
5. You have bought both licenses (xDesign and 3DExperience) and you missing roles. Follow Assigning licenses for multiple orders to assign 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers role and Introducing the All-in-One SOLIDWORKS xDesign Role for xDesign role.
6. You have purchased Solidworks 3DExperience for Makers but for some reason your roles were not assign correctly. Similarly to #5, follow Assigning licenses for multiple orders to see how to assign 3DExperience roles correctly.
7. In rare case, improperly deployed account is the reason. An adjustment has to be made on the backend and only Dassault staff can help you with that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #34."Can't open hosts file" error is an indication that:

1. Antivirus could be blocking the launcher ability to write to the "hosts" file. SentinelOne, ZoneAlarm and Webroot are particularly known to cause these issues. To solve the problem allow program to write to the "hosts" file.
2. The hosts file is set to read-only mode. Go to the file properties and uncheck it "Read-only" attribute.
3. The "hosts" file location has been changed or file doesn't exist at all. The file must be located in the directory:  "C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\etc"
4. In rare cases "hosts" file may have already been renamed to "hosts.txt" and needs to be renamed back to "hosts" (without any extension).  Beware that file extension may be hidden if "Hide extension for known file types" is selected in File Explorer Options (Control Panel). You need to enable that option in windows settings. Control Panel >>> File Explorer Options >>> View >>> Deactivate option "Hide extensions for known file types". Then go to location of hosts file and remove .txt extension.

IMPORTANT! After installation finishes restore "read-only" attribute to prevent unauthorized modifications. Leaving hosts file available for any program to access and write to is serious security risk.

Please check following posts for in-depth solution:
 -  Trying to install 3DEXPERIENCELauncher. keep getting this error (users of ZoneAlarm Firewall)
 -  Just purchased 3D Experience for Makers through the EAA program. Unable to install... (users of Webroot)

EXTRA INFO: What is "Hosts" file and what does it do?
"A Hosts file is a simple text file that maps domain names to IP addresses on your computer. It acts like a local DNS resolver, allowing your computer to bypass the usual DNS servers for specific domains. This can be useful for various reasons, including testing, local development, and blocking malicious websites"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🔴  #35. If problem with launcher can't be resolve, manual install can be attempted. Follow video from this thread (first post by Kairan ZHANG) and select:
