I'm trying to implement a graded material (functionally graded cylinder) using USDFLD and UHYPER together in Abaqus/Standard. The goal is :

1. USDFLD: Maps Y-coordinate to FIELD(1) (normalized 0 to 1)

2. UHYPER: Reads FIELDV(1) and uses it to calculate material properties

Result: SDV remains ZERO, FIELDV doesn't appear in visualization, and the material behaves as if FIELDV(1)=0 everywhere. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
