Hello everyone,
I am currently working on an infiltration analysis in Abaqus/Standard and have been facing persistent convergence and stability issues during the simulation. I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions from the community.
The model involves coupled infiltration behavior, and during the analysis I encounter issues such as:
- Too many attempts made for this increment
I would like to understand:
- What are the common causes of these issues in infiltration or seepage-related analyses?
- Which modeling aspects should be checked first (material properties, boundary conditions, mesh quality, permeability definition, step settings, etc.)?
- Are there recommended strategies in Abaqus/Standard to improve convergence for coupled pore pressure–stress problems?
- Would stabilization techniques, mesh refinement, or different increment controls help in such cases?
I have already tried adjusting increment sizes and reviewing boundary conditions, but the problem still persists.
Any advice, best practices, or relevant experience would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance for your support. I a,m attaching some of the screenshot for your understanding.
