Abaqus CAE
Hi
I am a bit new to using FEA software and have been given a project by my university to design a connecting rod for use in a automotive system. right now I have made the model as seen in the image, imported it into ABAQUS and I am trying to see were the stress is acting and what area material can be reduced.
The problem is that I keep getting an error message and I have no idea what's gone wrong and the message file isn't that helpful. I was able to make a simple model with the same settings as I have now but it lacked the split the oil hole and the cut out in the middle but now its just not working. Does anyone know where I can either see more detail on what went wrong outside of the warning messages or have any advice on how to fix/troubleshoot the issue?
any help would be appreciated
error message below:
Time increment required is less than the minimum specified
The analysis has been terminated due to previous errors. All output requests have been written for the last converged increment.
Abaqus/Standard Analysis exited with an error - Please see the message file for possible error messages if the file exists.
What I have done:
The connecting rod has been split at the big end and connected using a tie function on both sides of the hole , while there are 2 pins inside the holes represented by curves with analytical rigid features. the smaller one is pushing towards the larger hole by using a displacement boundary condition pushing and one fixed using an Encastre boundary condition. There is also a 2mm oil hole cut into the smaller hole
I have also:
Added interactions with the pin curves and there hole
set interaction properties to be contact, normal, friction
and the normal set up for both parts: materials, section selection, and mesh tet-free (element type quadric)
