Best Practice: Should risks be on the main project or sub-projects and why?

Our projects teams are just starting to do risk management in 3DX. Our 3DX projects are set up with a main project and then sub-projects for each of the different responsible areas (engineering, test, safety, etc.).

I know that 3DX allows risks to be put on the main project or on the sub-projects and has a Filter By view setting of "Project Risks" or "Project + Sub-Project risks."

Questions:

  • Anyone have any best practices for whether to put risks on the main project or sub-projects?
  • What are pros/cons of each method?
