QustomPCB Release 2026-1 is now available for Free

QustomApps is excited to announce the newest version of QustomPCB 2026-1

QustomPCB Release 2026-1 (Free)

(Import tool for CST)

This new release of QustomPCB supports the import from ODB++. The component outline, height, and thickness are read from the ODB++ to build the component geometry and mesh. Positions of solder balls and leads are also read for each component, making it easy to use the tools inside QustomPCB to build rows of leads or ball grid arrays on components which can be used to build package geometry.

The QustomPCB tool is now available for free. Please contact maria.shubert@qustomapps.com to arrange a download.

Over the years there have been extensive simulation capabilities put into Abaqus to model the complexities of circuits boards. This tool provides a platform to easily read in the board and component files, create the geometry, and mesh the PCB model. Then the advanced capabilities of Abaqus can then be applied to simulate the many scenarios that need to be considered when designing and analyzing printed circuit boards.

This tool is also an excellent enabler for analyses with CST. Detailed geometry of components, solder balls, and leads can be generated and imported into CST for use with its advanced capabilities.

Board and Component Import

  • The board, components, and component instances are imported through the IDF, Gerber and ODB++ formats.

Component Packages

  • Complex packages of components, solder balls, leads, and fillers can build parametrically and automatically combined and meshed.

Solder Balls

  • A library of round, SMD, MD, square solder, and user-defined balls are supported, geometry or mesh based.

  • Solder ball locations are automatically imported from the Gerber and ODB++ files.

Leads

  • A built-in Gold-wing lead is supported, which may include a round and square pad, as well as solder between the lead and pad or lead and board.

  • A user-defined lead is supported. User may generate an arbitrary lead in Abaqus/CAE, then QustomPCB manages the placement along components and the merging or tying of the leads to the board and component.

  • Lead locations are automatically read in from the Gerber and ODB++ files.

Cutouts, Holes

  • Cutouts are imported from the board layout files and automatically generated.

  • Customized cutouts of any shape can be generated in the board or a component.

  • Drill holes read from the board layout can be filtered by diameter.

Meshing Controls

  • Boards can be meshed with hex or Tet elements.

  • The number of elements through the board and element size in the plane are supported.

  • Partitions on the board around individual components can be easily created to control mesh density.

  • All solder ball types can be meshed with hex or Tet element and many mesh controls are available.

  • Leads can be meshed with Hex elements, except in the case where the solder is modeled.
