Introduction
Design teams often refer to the review slides in the 3D Markup or other web-based review apps to thoroughly understand the issue. They then need to manually locate specific viewpoints in the assembly within the desktop-based design app to implement the suggested changes. This approach can sometimes be inefficient and error-prone.
To address these challenges ENOVIA has introduced following two enhancements.
Transfer the 3D Viewpoint
Starting with the R2023x FD03 release, you can drag and drop slide views from web apps into desktop-based design apps (e.g. Product Structure Design) to quickly visualize selected viewpoints and resolve issues. This feature is supported across all web-based review apps including 3D Markup, Design Review, and Design Validation.
To enable this transfer of viewpoint from, you need to select the “Transfer Model View to Another app” checkbox in the app preferences. Also, the contextual assembly must be open in the desktop-based design app before performing the slide drag and drop operation.
The following aspects are considered during the slide view transfer:
- Camera Position and Orientation: The exact position and orientation of the camera are replicated.
- Hide/Show State of the Product Structure: If elements are visible in the slide but hidden in the target application, their visibility is updated to match the slide.
- Clipping Plane Definitions: The slide's clipping plane is considered and transferred to accurately display the viewpoint in the desktop application.
- Missing Products: If products referenced in the slide are not found in the target application, only the camera position, orientation, and clipping planes are transferred.

Transfer the 3D Viewpoint Containing FTA Information
Capturing the Functional Tolerancing & Annotations (FTA) data on 3D models allows for precise communication of tolerances, annotations and functional requirements, streamlining the design-to-manufacturing process.
All the web-based review applications allow you to review 3D models containing FTA data. You can capture observations and suggest changes in it to ensure that design intent is accurately communicated.
Starting with the R2025x FD04 release, you can drag and drop slides created in 3D Markup, Design Review, or Design Validation apps containing FTA information directly into desktop-based design applications. This ensures that designers can see the exact tolerances and annotations in the desktop app, reducing the risk of misinterpretation. Further, this eliminates the need to manually replicate FTA viewpoints, saving time and effort.
