What’s new in Planning application?
We are announcing a new capability in Planning application to enhance Highlighting static links feature.
How will this help you?
In context of a plan containing numerous operations linked together, the user benefits include improved readability of Planning and reduced analysis time.
What does “Highlighting > Operation static links” do?
“Highlighting > Operation static links” highlights only the operations directly linked to the selected operation (whatever the links are originating from and arriving at the selected operation). This differs from “Highlighting > Static links” that propagates the highlight to the successors of the successors of the selected operation.
Key point: Associated with the option “Highlighting > Add to list”, this highlight allows the user to better control how the network of highlighted operations will expand.
How does it work in practice?
Let us compare “Highlighting > Static links” and highlighting > Operation static links” features.
“Highlighting > Static links” from the operation in the orange rectangle results in the following network of operations:
“Highlighting > Operation static links” (when “Add to list” is not enabled) from the same operation in the orange rectangle results in the following network of operations:
After enabling “Highlighting > Add to list”, let us select another operation: the predecessor of our initial operation on the same machine (in the orange rectangle).
The plan now looks like this:
In a complex plan with many links, this new Highlighting mode is helpful to the user focusing on what matters.
