Assembly Design R2026x: New Positioning Mode for Engineering Connections

Hello everyone,

Since R2026x level, you may have noticed a new option in the Engineering Connection Definition panel: "All Connections"

What does it mean exactly ?

  • “All Connections” mode: when creating Engineering Connections, it ensures that the moving component respects already defined Engineering Connections.
  • “Current Connection” mode (existing behavior): only constraints under the current connection (being created or edited) are considered when positioning components to satisfy the constraints.

You may ask yourself why this new mode is not the default one since it seems more logical. In fact, it may result in performance impact especially for big structures. When the new option “All Connections” is activated, every change of property of a constraint such as mode, value, alignement, etc, will trigger analysis of all the Engineering connections and hence there will be performance impact.
