BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot: Licensing File Format Change in Release 2026
Program
BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot and any BIOVIA Product with Pipeline Pilot dependency.
Operating System
All supported operating systems
Background
As part of BIOVIA Release 2026, we have made changes to our license format for Pipeline Pilot and associated products to a new license file format, to improve compatibility and security.
This change introduces a new format (V3) that is not backward compatible with earlier product versions.
Every new renewal key will be issued, by default, with the new V3 format.
What does this mean to you?
Customers using older product versions (prior to 2026)
You will not be able to use the new V3 license files. If you are running an older version, please request the license key in the legacy (V2) format by contacting Customer Support.
Customers upgrading to Release 2026 or later
You must use the new V3 license format. Legacy (V2) license files are not supported with Release 2026 and onwards.
Release 2025 Compatibility
Release 2025 supports both V2 and V3 license formats, providing flexibility during transition.
How to identify the license format?
You can determine the format of your license file by opening it in a text editor.
The first line of the license key file indicates the format:
Compatible with products up to Release 2025
# FORMAT V2 Or
# FORMAT V2.1 Required for Release 2025 and future versions
# FORMAT V3How to contact BIOVIA Support
