If you use them or not the key board short cuts can be great or they can be a pain by activating commands that you do not want ok know that are there.
One way to access the short cuts is to go to the tools command and pick on customize. Then you can pick on the keyboard tab. On the show area pick commands with keyboard shortcuts.
To clear a short cut just click on the cell with the keyboard short cut and hit the back space button to clear it out. you can also use the search for area to look for filters. If you find that you are turning on filters that you do not want because you have some fat fingers like I do that always seem to push the wrong buttons you can find those keys and remove the short cuts to those commands.
I have had keys that I have had set up for a long time to do different things from opening a drawing from the part, to inserting a BOM for an assembly so when I get to a new seat of SolidWorks I will clear out any of the existing short cuts with my own. So the pictures I posted may not be the same as what you will see on your setup.
If you are really new to the software I would suggest going with what Glenn Schroeder does and setup and use the Mouse Gestures as that is a really easy way to get around the program with out having to search the screen for commands or set up more keyboard short cuts. Every time I try to get into them I tend to show up the next day and go back to the keyboard.
