Browser-based Role Updates - Chris Pagliarini
More Value, Same Power, Simplified Packaging
We’re excited to announce a major step forward in how we deliver value to our customers and partners with a new browser-based role, SOLIDWORKS xDesign (X0W-OC). This new role will replace the existing SOLIDWORKS Cloud Package (SWO-OC) with an all-in-one role that brings clarity, consistency, streamlined packaging, and added functionality at no additional cost.
What's Changing
We're moving from a multi-role package to a single, powerful xDesign role that includes everything you already use, plus more.
SOLIDWORKS xDesign includes the following apps:
- xDesign - Cloud-native parametric CAD
- xShape - Subdivision modeling for organic shapes
- xDrawing - 2D and 3D documentation
- xFrame - Structure and weldment design
- xSheetMetal - Purpose-built sheet metal design tools
- xMold (Value Add) - Mold design tools previously not included in the SOLIDWORKS Cloud Package
- xStudio - Rendering and visualization
- Credit Pack - Access to compute credits and services included with the xStudio
What this means to you
- No loss of functionality - Everything you rely on in the SOLIDWORKS Cloud Package is included in the new role
- More value - Get access to xMold, a new addition for SOLIDWORKS Cloud Package customers, free of charge
- Simplified experience - One role, one license, all your tools in one place
- Simplified messaging and marketing - One name and one identity for our core browser-based solutions
What to know for Sales and Partners
- The SOLIDWORKS xDesign role (X0W-OC) and SOLIDWORKS xDesign offer (XWZO-OC) will be the primary focus for all browser-based solution sales, renewals, and marketing communications.
- The SOLIDWORKS xDesign Offer (XWZO-OC) will be updated to include this new role. There will be no change in pricing.
- The SOLIDWORKS Cloud Package (SWO-OC) will be moved to controlled availability (CA), effective R2025x FD03.
All customer transitions at the time of renewal should follow the guided migration plan, ensuring smooth renewals and continuity.
