Collaboration and Data Management
Applying a Unified Date Format
Ensure consistent dates by applying a single ISO 8601 (Y-M-D) date format across SOLIDWORKS and all 3DEXPERIENCE apps, improving global communication, reducing errors, maintaining clean PLM data, and standardizing drawings and documentation. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform saves all dates in GMT (UTC) time and displays them in your local time zone. Depending on the region, this date can shift by one day. For example, a model created in France on 1015-04-13, shows the same date when viewed in India.
Display Data Marks
Add or remove Display Data Marks directly in the ConfigurationManager, with marks preserved after 3DEXPERIENCE compatibility updates. This gives you clearer control over configuration display states and improves performance and preview accuracy in Large Design Review, SOLIDWORKS Visualize, and eDrawings.
Content Explorer App
Simplify content discovery and management with Content Explorer, giving SOLIDWORKS users a familiar, Windows-Explorer like experience to quickly find, organize, and share platform content with minimal learning curve.
Linking PLM Attributes to Bill of Materials Columns
Ensure accuracy and consistency through direct linking BOMs to platform attributes, empowering more reliable product decisions. You can now link PLM attributes to bill of materials (BOM) columns that automatically update when you connect to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Opening Latest Revision of References
SOLIDWORKS Design automatically opens documents with the latest revision of all first-level references from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This ensures you always work with current In Work data thus saving time, reducing errors, and keeping designs aligned with team updates while preserving control over Released and Frozen revisions.
Email Reminder for Platform Activation
Activate the included 3DEXPERIENCE Platform directly from SOLIDWORKS through an in-context email reminder. This helps SOLIDWORKS admin users complete tenant activation promptly, enabling access to platform services for their teams.
Enhance Settings Admin to add Bookmarks
Improve standards consistency and reduce 3DEXPERIENCE Connector disruptions by letting admins manage bookmark-based File Locations directly in Settings Administrator, without editing in SOLIDWORKS Design. Give users a dedicated option to disable automatic bookmark-driven location updates when background syncing conflicts with other Connector operations.
Enterprise Item Number Tab
Improve traceability and enforce standardization by assigning Enterprise Item Number (EIN) inside the new Enterprise Item Number tab in the New Part dialog when creating parts or assemblies on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from within SOLIDWORKS. Reduce downstream rework and help maintain consistent item identification across teams and systems.
Keep Previous Iteration Option
Prevent accidental overwrites and protect design history with the new "Always create iterations at Save to 3DEXPERIENCE" setting option to enforce "Keep previous iteration" in the Save to 3DEXPERIENCE dialog as default behavior, eliminating the need to manually select it every time.
Material Definition on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform
Manage and publish materials as Platform-managed objects directly from SOLIDWORKS using the Material Definition App. This enables centralized material management on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, supporting controlled material definitions and downstream platform applications.
User Experience
Install Multiple Versions of SOLIDWORKS Design
Install multiple versions of SOLIDWORKS Design in order to collaborate more efficiently with partners who are using a different SOLIDWORKS Design version. Quickly and easily create shortcuts and modify existing installations. In SOLIDWORKS Design 2026, you will have the option to install 2025. Then in SOLIDWORKS Design 2027 and beyond, you will be able to install the 2 previous versions.
AI-powered Prompt-guided Drawing Generation (Beta)
Generate drawings even faster with AI. Last year, we introduced generative drawings and you asked for more control. Now, you can work with your new design virtual companion LEO to define specifications before the drawing is created. It’s no longer a one-size-fits-all result. Set your template and standards, choose the primary view, and refine the preview with prompts. When it looks right, generate the drawing and save it to your selected location. The result: drawings that match your standards, your intent, and your requirements—without the usual manual setup.
AI-powered What's Wrong Analysis (Beta)
Fix part model errors faster with AI-guided root-cause analysis. Cut through cascading warnings to find what actually broke—and get clear guidance on how to resolve errors by interacting with your virtual companion LEO.
AI-powered Assembly Structure Generator (Beta)
Ask your virtual companion LEO to generate an assembly structure from a simple prompt. Get a solid starting point—so you don’t begin from zero—then iterate with prompts to refine the structure until it matches your intent (remove or replace components, adjust hierarchy, and more). When you’re ready, generate it as SOLIDWORKS assembly and part files.
Contextual Assistant Notifications
Get tips and recommendations to help you become more efficient with advanced SOLIDWORKS Design functionality. Notifications provide short, action-specific tips for workflows like creating configurations and opening Product Structure Explorer filters. For component patterns, the assistant can actually create the component pattern for you.
ESC from Long-Running Part Commands
Use the Esc key to quickly cancel from long-running Import Diagnostic and Mirror operations.
Easier Access to Find and Open Filters
Find and open filters faster by accessing them from the 3DSearch tab in the Open dialog and from Recent Documents. Opening filters directly in SOLIDWORKS Design makes it easier to work with large, complex assemblies by enabling selective loading for better performance and productivity.
Parts & Assemblies
Ability to Import Models as a Background Process
Keep working in SOLIDWORKS while large non-SOLIDWORKS models, such as STEP or IGES, import in the background.
Save in Large Design Review (LDR) Mode
Accelerate large-assembly workflows and reduce save-time delays with optimized Save behavior for 3DEXPERIENCE assemblies opened in Large Design Review (LDR) mode. SOLIDWORKS preserves assembly structure and relationships while avoiding unnecessary downloads and saves for partially loaded, non-root components.
Sketch Relations for Multiple Entities as a Group
Improve sketch robustness and reduce rework by applying a relation to multiple sketch entities as a single “Relation Group”. Keep the remaining entities’ relations intact when one entity or its relations are deleted, and enable quick group highlighting to see exactly which entities are related together.
Drawings and MBD
Support Ordinate Dimensions in MBD
Improve communication with manufacturing by taking advantage of more dimensioning flexibility with the option to create ordinate dimensions in 3D.
Assign Same Component Reference Number to All Instances of the Same Component
Set the same Component Reference number for identical component instances with one click. Building on SOLIDWORKS 2024, which introduced a single interface to assign Component References for all top-level assembly components and the Use Tree Order option for automatic sequential numbering, you can now also assign a shared reference number to identical instances for cleaner, more consistent BOMs and documentation.
Full Thread Descriptions for Holes in MBD and 2D Drawings
Maintain a uniform display of thread descriptions in MBD and 2D Drawings with a new option in Document Properties to show the full thread description in both MBD and 2D Drawings.
Weld Symbols to Adhere to AWS A2.4:2020 Standards
Create standards-compliant drawings with greater confidence using improved weld symbol support aligned to AWS A2.4:2020. Add Edge Weld symbols, clarify Back and Backing indicators, and improve groove-angle formatting to prevent overlap for faster creation and easier interpretation.
Control the Visibility of Graphic Bodies in Drawing Views
Control whether Graphic Bodies appear in drawing views using a new Document Property setting. You can enable or disable visibility per drawing view for precise control, and turn it on for legacy drawings when needed.
Export Top Level Components in Drawing Views as Blocks
Export SOLIDWORKS Design drawings to DWG/DXF with 2D views preserved as component and sub-assembly blocks for cleaner structure, easier edits, and faster reuse in downstream drafting. Block-based exports maintain drawing organization for 2D drafting workflows, making it simpler to reposition, copy, or update repeated elements while keeping geometry consistent.
Routing
Uniform Covering Across Pipes and Fittings
Apply coverings across fittings automatically and save valuable design time. No more manual adjustments—your tees, crosses, and reducers are fully covered, letting you focus on optimizing the layout rather than fixing visual inconsistencies.
ECAD-MCAD
Unified ECAD–MCAD Cloud Workspace Embedded in SOLIDWORKS
Enable ECAD–MCAD cloud collaboration directly in the main SOLIDWORKS window with the new 3DEXPERIENCE Collaboration task pane. This eliminates CircuitWorks switching and improves usability and collaboration speed, while keeping the legacy interface available when needed.
Visualization & Rendering
Flatten Floor Improvements
Experience a more realistic version of your model directly within SOLIDWORKS with improvements to the Flatten Floor feature within the Edit Scene functionality. It helps your models look more natural within the Scenes and feel more grounded when moving.
DSPBR Parameters Continued Enhancements
Gain more control over creating realistic appearances by adding textures to Metallic, Transparency, and Normal parameters, and enabling Bump Maps for DSPBR materials in SOLIDWORKS.
