Sales to Manufacturing: Streamlining Business Workflows - IC693212

This session will follow the technological journey of a multigenerational family business from hand sketches and manual calculations in their garage to becoming an industry leader that uses SOLIDWORKS alongside DriveWorks to develop a software solution for the entire company workflow. We will outline how we are: 1) Automating the generation of customizable product models with a few simple SOLIDWORKS parts/assemblies, 2) Optimizing our workflow by removing redundancies, improving data management, and maximizing company resources, 3) Designing our own software tool in an industry where one was previously unavailable, all without formal software development training, and 4) Creating a user experience that makes this tool accessible to anyone, regardless of prior technical training or industry experience. We have used this technology to help facilitate a 69.4% increase in sales from the system's initial implementation just two years ago. This session will explain how its attendees can do the same.

Leah Adams

Systems Engineer, ColePak Inc.

Leah Adams studied Mechanical Engineering at Cedarville University, graduating with highest honors. Her first experience with SOLIDWORKS was during a freshman engineering graphics class. Since then, she has used this software to model drivetrains for solar and hydrofoil boats, to aid in the design of lift assists and conveyors, and, most recently, she has paired it with DriveWorks to reimagine entire business processes in the packaging industry. She presented on this current workflow project during DriveWorks World 2021 and 2022 and was featured as a customer story with her software reseller during that same timeframe. When she isn’t at her computer, Leah can be found hiking at a national park or exploring a new destination beyond the beautiful cornfields in her home state of Ohio.
