How Can AI Virtual Companions Help Me?
Use the LEO AI Virtual Companion to evaluate the performance of your assembly in SOLIDWORKS Design. LEO will provide feedback on what may be causing performance bottlenecks, such as slow opening and save times, poor graphics performance, and excessive rebuild times.
LEO will provide you with clear recommendations on how to address any of the issues found.
Assembly Performance Analysis: Ask LEO what issues could be damaging performance and how to resolve them
Prerequisites and Set Up
AURA and LEO AI Virtual Companions can be accessed directly within SOLIDWORKS Design via the AI Labs tab in the task pane.
To access AURA and LEO AI Virtual Companions, you will need access to a recent version of SOLIDWORKS Design and be connected to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
- SOLIDWORKS Design (Named-User License)
- SOLIDWORKS Design with Cloud Services (Device-Locked License)
- Have the Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS role granted to you
- Install the Design with SOLIDWORKS application
Note: Version 2026 SP02 or later is required to use the AI Virtual Companions in SOLIDWORKS Design
Installation guidance can be found in the Install Your Roles and Applications section of the Getting Started Guide.
Note: Users do not need to save any of their files to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to use AURA or LEO.
How To
In your SOLIDWORKS Design session, open an assembly from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform or from the local file system.
From the AI Labs tab in the SOLIDWORKS Task Pane, select Assembly Performance Analysis.
This starts a new conversation with LEO.
To get LEO to evaluate the assembly by typing the following prompt "evaluate my assembly for performance", followed by the Enter key.
After a few moments, LEO will reply with a summary report. The report will highlight any potential issues that are impacting performance related to saving, opening, rebuild times, and graphics performance.
If any issues are found, LEO will provide recommendations on how to maximise the performance of the assembly. The recommendations are intended as guidance; it is up to the user to decide whether to make the suggested changes or not.
Tips and Recommended Practice
Always load an assembly in either lightweight or fully resolved mode. LEO cannot evaluate assemblies loaded in Large Design Review mode.
