Session Abstract

Description: Engineering can be a dangerous profession. Join Steven Darcey and Matt Sherak as they use 3DScanners, SOLIDWORKS, 3DEXPERIENCE Lattice Design, Simulation tools, and 3D printing to design the perfect Fireman’s helmet. We will begin with some 3D scanning of a fireman’s helmet and a human head, then we’ll show the process of modeling the helmet in SOLIDWORKS. With the head and helmet in SOLIDWORKS we can then model the cushion between the two entities. Once we have the cushion modeled, we’ll use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to generate a lattice mesh and then run a simulation to solve for the right comfort vs cushion vs strength. Once we have our simulation results, we just need to make adjustments to the cushion and print it on Stratasys 3D printers and test the real-world product. Join us on this journey in using the best-in-class hardware and software tools for designing the perfect fireman’s helmet.
