Prerequisites
- Hardware and software requirements and certified workstations are available here.
You can install and run SOLIDWORKS Connected on consumer systems that are not compatible, namely systems that do not have professional graphics cards (NVIDIA Quadro / NVIDIA RTX Series, AMD Radeon™ PRO). However, SOLIDWORKS is optimized for Windows® 10 workstations and professional laptops.
- SOLIDWORKS requires a 9 GB of disk space.
Notes
- You cannot install the same major version of SOLIDWORKS Desktop and SOLIDWORKS Connected on the same computer. For example, SOLIDWORKS Connected R2024x cannot be installed on the same computer as SOLIDWORKS Desktop 2024. You can older versions of SOLIDWORKS Desktop alongside SOLIDWORKS Connected R2024x.

Installing SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD
Instructions
1. Go to the SOLIDWORKS Downloads page and click Log In
2. You can create a 3DEXPERIENCE ID here if needed, or sign in with your existing ID
3. Read and accept the Customer License and Online Services Agreement
4. You'll then Download and Run the Installation Manager executable file. This is a self-extracting executable that handles the download options for your install.
5. For individual installations select “Install on this computer”. The bottom option is used if you want to download the entire media package to share or use later.
6. Enter your SOLIDWORKS serial number next. Refer to to order confirmation email for the 16 digit number. Tip: you can copy the entire number (with spaces) and paste in after clicking in the first empty box. Also, you can enter additional serial numbers for products you may have purchased.
7. At the Summary page you can edit the details of what will get installed, view options for download location and the Background Downloader (for future updates), the install location, and the Toolbox/Hole Wizard Options. For new installation most of these can be left as default options. Click to accept the terms of the SOLIDWORKS License Agreement and then click Download and Install.
8. The download of all the files and the installation will take a few minutes depending on your internet speed and your computer/hard drive speed.
9. Once complete you can take a look at the What’s New document if you want, and join the Customer Experience Improvement Program to provide feedback that directly helps make SOLIDWORKS run better.
