The essential role of FlexNet consists of monitoring and driving production activity on the shop floor made at production lines, machines and devices, steering those equipment units according to predefined tasks and processes. Essentially it is just not one way communication but also MI being used to set calibration and machine readings on the plant floor. Examples of this are torque readings, poundage of pressure etc.MI is used the same way to drive and monitor measurements devices used by Quality and various automated transportation systems, palettizers, and robots used by Logistics. Modern machines communicate with other electronic equipment using several protocols such as RS 232 or OPC. MI was created so there is a uniform interface to link these devices to FlexNet modules. Machine Integrator (MI) is designed to be such an interface, so that all machines can be accessed in a uniform way from the whole FlexNet Suite.
