Learning is the key factor that sustains success. Without learning and improvement, you fall dead in the water as your product or service become obsolete and the competition leave you in a trail of dust.
Many companies take advantage of the treasure trove of knowledge that After Action Review wield. Alternatively, the majority does not because they believe :
"There is no time"
"I have a meeting"
I don't have anything to say"...
I am sharing a 3DLean team board template to facilitate your retrospective workshops during different phases of your project. Following the Lean methodology After Action Review.
The AAR template is designed to help facilitate your team towards its goal and objectives and ingrain a culture of learning into the DNA of your team, small business, or company.
I have compiled some simple fillable forms to use as a guide for your next retrospective and lessons learned workshop, but they are by no means set in stone. At the end, you need to use what works for you, and discovering that only comes through constant practice.
Done correctly, the lessons learned workshop provide context and insight by asking four simple questions:
- What was expected to occur?
- What actually occurred?
- What worked well, what did not, and why?
- What needs to be improved?
In this wiki you will find a 3DLean template containing these different forms simplified.
Process & Tips :
- Use only problem e-notes and dispatch them into the starfish form (More of, Less of, Stop doing, Start doing, keep doing)
- prioritize your problem notes using tags
- identify actions and link them to problems prioritized
- assign actions to people and plan a follow up meeting to ensure their progress
- you can customize you action log and problem log 🔻
