Context
When creating their Piping Catalog/Library, customer often wants to reuse existing Mechanical Part to convert them into Piping Part.
But it is not possible to change the type of an existing 3D Part into a Piping Part.
The following methodology allows to easily create a Piping Part, with a link to the geometry coming from the original 3D Part, without copy/pasting anything,
Method
This method is based on the “Enable Reuse of this Representation” command and the steps are the following :
1.Create new piping part
2. Switch to Product both Piping Part and original 3D Part
3.Save
3. Enable Reuse of this representation on the original 3D Part
4. Insert existing Shape into the Piping Part
5. Insert existing Drawing into the Piping Part (if needed)
6. Create new geometrical Set
7. Create new ports
8. Save
