The Forward functionality offers a way to forward content from one community or conversation to another community or conversation so that broader audiences can be reached while still keeping their scope and subject.
The forward can only be done from one content to one destination.
Content types that can be forwarded:
- Posts
- Media (image, video, GIF, Document)
- Questions
- Wikis
- Ideas
- Messages
- 3DStories
When forwarding a content, views, likes, comments are not forwarded, explicit tags must be recreated and you can't switch the content type.
Content that can't be forwarded (for now):
- WeDo
- Surveys
- 3DSketches
Additional Notes:
- Inline tags are forwarded. When media are embedded in a content, only media owned by you and originating from the content community are duplicated otherwise the reference to the original media is kept in the forwarded content. Depending on the community visibility they are coming from, those media may not be visible by the entire destination audience. When an idea is forwarded, the status is not forwarded, it is set as the first status of the pipeline in the destination community.
Who can forward content?
- Only community owners, content owners and members of a conversation can forward content. As community owner, when forwarding someone else's content, the newly created content in the destination community will show whom it has been forwarded from. Even if it is forwarded again by another person, the original author is always kept, unless the content is edited.
- If you are the author of the forwarded content, there won't be any "Forwarded from..." mention.
- While forwarded content can be edited by its new author or community owners at destination, forwarded messages can't be edited.
