New role: Generative Therapeutics Design Project
The new Generative Therapeutics (BAR) role on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform leverages BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot’s more than 15-year track record democratizing the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (ML) combined with data analytics, and applies this technology to improve drug discovery. It’s front page news that long, complex drug discovery cycles have contributed to unsustainably high drug prices and are having a significant societal impact. Applying Artificial Intelligence to the drug discovery process can significantly improve both the quality of candidates and the timeline to discover them. BIOVIA’s Generative Therapeutics offering (BAR) automates the virtual creation, testing and selection of novel small molecules and biologics. It allows researchers to train and guide a ML model for specific target and anti-target criteria, thereby selecting the most promising molecules to synthesize. In addition, researchers benefit from a collaborative environment to improve candidate selection, resulting in improved project speed and targeting. Also, researchers can now easily share the details of these molecules with Contract Research Organizations to create and test them efficiently. All aspects of the entire discovery process including all decisions and candidates are tracked, preserving critical intellectual property (IP) and recording the results for future project knowledge and IP institutionalization.
Pipeline Pilot has a 15-year track record in the use of data science and ML to optimize complex scenarios in many industries e.g. from steel fatigue strength prediction, to predicting coal location and quality from wireline log data, to optimal formulation of powdered laundry detergent, to design high performance concrete. BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot allows to:
- Develop sophisticated data science applications more rapidly and with less effort than with traditional programming environments through a visual UI (aka visual programming).
- Leverage extensive scientific data analysis and Machine Learning capabilities for image processing, therapeutic candidate screening and selection, assay data analysis, materials property prediction, predictive maintenance, formulation development, safety screening, and chemistry. Pipeline Pilot can automate repetitive tasks benefitting many use cases and industries, and build models from data to replace costly experiments.
- Automate data processing including integration, data ETL (extract, transform, load) analysis and reporting.
- Ensure data standardization, operational efficiency and increased productivity.
In a nutshell, within end-to-end data science workflows such as in image analytics, cheminformatics, and formulations development, BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot:
- is used for its extensive machine capabilities to build models from expensive data in order to make inexpensive predictions. Pipeline Pilot’s machine learning algorithms allow customers to build and train their own models, use Pipeline Pilot’s available models or integrate external models, such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN).
- automates labor-intensive, error-prone processes for data aggregation, preparation, blending and analysis
New role: Experimental Knowledge Scientist
With R2020x, BIOVIA brings to market the new Experimental Knowledge Scientist role to turn scientific data into an enterprise asset, allowing users to access and understand all data at their fingertips. Many Life Sciences and Beauty/Home Care Manufacturers repeat costly lab experiments because of an inability to find and access the details of past experiments, leading to longer, more costly product development cycles.
BIOVIA’s Experimental Knowledge Scientist Role allows to collect and centralize experiment records on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. It also unifies these internal data sources with multiple external data sources. All data is indexed by chemical structures and biologic data, allowing researchers to analyze quickly find relevant experiment data by chemical structure and biology criteria search, promoting understanding and reuse of past experiments.
The extremely fast text search leverages the same cloud-native NETVIBES EXALEAD technology that allows the search of billions of records on the web. In addition, the 6WTags capability enables intelligent guided search based on 6W facets what, when, who, where, how, why (i.e. a simple and powerful interface to refine search results content). Finally, NETVIBES EXALEAD technology delivers federated search over both customer-internal information and external/web information allowing researchers an integrated experience in finding relevant research both inside and outside their company.
