CATIA

Functional Generative Design

  • Restarting Optimizations

You can now restart an incomplete optimization to continue it from the point where it ended.

Optimizations might stop because of a license interruption, a lack of drive space, or they might reach the specified maximum number of optimization cycles. In any of these cases, you can now restart the optimization once you remove the blocking issue.

You cannot change the setup for an optimization and restart it. For example, if you change the convergence criteria or constraint values, you must start a new optimization.

Benefits: Restarting an optimization saves the time and computing resources used to reach the original stopping point. The completed optimization has all the data and options as if it completed in a single run.

For more information, see About Restarting Optimizations.

Sheet Metal Design

  • Jog Creation

You can now create a jogged bend with a line or a sketch including a line.

Benefits: You can create several bends at once.

For more information, see Creating Jogs.

  • Simplification of the Result When Creating a Wall or a Wall on Edge

When creating walls, tangent walls on edge, walls on edge with clearance, or sketch-based tangent walls on edge, the results faces are now simplified, provided the input support faces are planar.

Benefits: This capability improves the result of wall, wall-on-edge, pattern, and mirror features and eases the sheet metal design workflow.

  • Mitered Wall on Edge

You can now create mitered walls from edges with profiles consisting of lines and tangent arcs.

Benefits: It is possible to animate mechanisms with more complex configurations and to visualize contacts between two geometric elements using point-surface joints.

For more information, see Previewing the Motion of Mechanisms.

  • Visualizing the Accuracy of Contact Meshes

The 3D accuracy option lets you visualize the effects of the mesh density on the accuracy of the contact surface in the 3D area. The 3D accuracy value cannot be edited and depends on the mesh density value.

Benefits: By providing information about the mesh accuracy, performance and robustness are enhanced, especially for contacts with a fine mesh density, and it is possible to assess the resulting quality of the mesh.

For more information, see Creating Contacts Between Bodies.

Simulation Model Preparation

  • Exact Geometry Domain Extraction

You can now create a watertight representation of your model and extract an exact geometric representation of its internal flow domain.

This enhancement includes two new features:

  • Snapping to Spline and Ellipse Geometry

While creating sketches, you can snap to spline and ellipse geometries within, and external to the active sketch.

Benefits: This snapping ability with splines and ellipses is available during the entity creation and in drag operations. The snap creates coincident constraints to the splines and ellipse curve.
