3DEXCITE organizes graphic competitions on various occasions and themes around the subject of rendering with DSPBR.
DSPBR stands for Dassault Systèmes Physically Based Renderer. It is an easy-to-use, renderer-independent, PBR material model for a large variety of industry use-cases, ranging from high-performance VR applications to high-quality GI renderings. The DSPBR material technology is backed by the STELLAR render engine.
Who can take part?
In general, anyone who has anything to do with DSPBR and is keen to share their artwork can take part in our contests. Participation is open for customers, students, partners, resellers and employees of Dassault Systèmes.
How does it work?
As soon as a new contest starts, we post all details and conditions in this community.
What are the rules?
A guiding principle of our contests is "Rendered with DSPBR materials". Sometimes, we specify the software / platform application for creating the renderings, sometimes just the subject and corresponding 3D models.
You can use all post processes that Stellar offers you, as well as camera depth of field or denoising.
Post editing in other software is not permitted.
Respect copyrights
With each contest theme we provide the matching assets and 3D models. However, if you want to use textures or additional models, for example from the internet, make sure you have the corresponding free license for use. Purchase or payment for any assets does not improve your chance of winning.
Please include the source of the assets in your contribution description. This is very important as this is a public community and your submission might also be published on our social media platforms.
By joining the contest, you agree to the Marketing conditions whereby your submission could be used in future Dassault Systemes (3DS) marketing campaigns. You grant 3DS a free of charge right to (directly or through a third party) publish, reproduce, make it publically available, copy, transmit, broadcast, digitize, display, translate, adapt, modify, distribute or otherwise use on any media whatsoever and regardless of the format or manner, partly or as a whole, your submissions for 3DS’ internal and external communication and/or marketing activities, as well as to make them available to 3DS distributors and partners for the agreed purposes.
How to win?
We hope that our competitions result in a large and colorful variety of artwork made possible with DSPBR material technology. We let the community decide on the winner - the submission with the most votes/likes wins. Anyone who has access to our community can vote. Feel free to share the link.
👍The rendering with the most “votes” will get you wide exposure in our Dassault Systèmes Social Media channels and raise you to fame. You will also receive a framed print of your artwork.🤩
However, it's not all about winning... We encourage beginner users to participate specifically as the contests are a great opportunity to improve your skillset in a fun 'learning-by-doing' approach. The peers in this community are here for you to assist you with tips & tricks and direct feedback. So don't hesitate to publish unfinished renders or ask questions publicly in this community.
Contest phases
Our DSPBR contests are conducted in three phases as follows:
Phase 1 "Contest theme"
3DEXCITE presents the new topic and conditions of the contest in this community. Additionally we will provide the associated assets to use.
Tip: Subscribe to “new content” and receive notifications whenever new content is added in this community. Or use the 6wtag DSPBR contest.
Use this phase to exchange ideas, ask questions and share your current render to get advice from our experts. Simply use the comment function under the contest for an open communication.
Phase 2 "Submission"
Once you are happy with your final artwork, send your render before the stated deadline via email to 3dexcite.marketing@3ds.com. Please only submit 1 image as .jpeg or .png in 1920 x 1080 and include a short description of your contribution and possible links to free licenses of public assets.
Phase 3 "Voting and winner announcement"
The wining entry will be determined by a community voting.
3DEXCITE will manage the voting through a public survey. The entry with the most votes wins. It can also happen that the voting results in two or more winners. The winning render will be announced in a public post and in our social media channels.
