Hello,
I'm in need of showing a location and structure for a serial number on a part. I want to do it with "Wrap" (Unless someone can advice of a better way of course), but the structure I'm showing isn't the final number - meaning, I'm going to put "MM/YY/SN" which will be based on month, year and serial number, which my fabricator will provide according to each batch. Therefore, I don't want someone to make a mistake and machine the "engraving" like you can if you do "wrap" with "deboss" option. (Or "Emboss"). My Question is: If I'll choose the "scribe" option which seems to be only cosmetic (because it doesn't create a real depth in the model), can some NC program which what ever fabricator will use, can machine it? I just want to show the exact location and structure (size, fonts etc). I don't want to do it with Annotation on the drawing itself as it will be less accurate, less easy to change in the future and also won't be seen on the model for other uses. (Basically I'm asking if these mfg. software can use the "scribe" - when there is no real depth, and machine my structure by mistake , instead of them programming the correct numbers for each part and batch.
I'd appreciate opinion and recommendations if there's a better way to do what I need.
Thanks!
