I understand that SW2014 will save out a Luxology Modo file including animation data, if -and this is the catch- you have Photoview 360 loaded. Of course, if you already own Modo, as I do, there is no reason to buy PV360, since that just offers a subset of Modo's capabilities.
Of course, Modo can open SolidWorks files directly, bringing over model and texture data, but not animation, at least with previous versions. Having researched this before, I know that Solidworks corp. writes the SW file import plugin for Luxology, so MAYBE when they update this plugin, they will include the ability to bring over animation data. Does anyone know anything about this? Has anyone *with* PV360 tried to export animation data to Modo? Does it work? Does it work well?
Personally, I think it is an oversight to only allow export to Luxology Modo format if you have PV360 loaded, since you can open the SW file directly in PV360 anyway, without changing formats. You *only* need the Modo format if you *don't* have PV360!
