When my company creates a spring, we use a helix utilizing the "Height and Revolution" function. We then have two configurations; A free length (length while at rest) and a working (compressed) length. Instead of creating two helices with different information, we create one helix, and tell the height dimension to be different in each configuration. This creates a problem inside solidworks. Now when you switch between each configuration, the file wants to be re-saved, as if something is being edited and changed, when if fact, all the information is the same as before. We have even made sure to force rebuilt and save inside both configurations. This causes an issue when we use this spring inside of assemblies, now when we have multiple configurations in our assembly, that assembly wants to be saved, over and over again. I believe this must be a bug, because it seems Solidworks should know that the numbers are changing, but they are changing to information that was previously saved. Has anyone ever experienced this?
