Hello everyone,

My friend and I are preparing a project in which we are constructing a gripping mechanism for fishing reels. The mechanism utilizes a clamp which closes on the fishing rod and is planned to be held in place by the friction of the material lining the inside of the clamp.

Our question is - what would be a good, flexible, lightweight, waterproof and (as much as possible) durable material with which to line the inside of the clamp, so as to achieve a strong grip (one which can likely stand the forces involved in fishing)?

Would we find such a material in the Solidworks materials library?
