Imported a step file from an EE; it's of a circuit board. Unfortunately their software saves every single IC as an assembly and every single leader as a part. Overall, the step file is about 35mb large. I could open it in SW (took about half an hour to open), but it takes about 2 hours to save this file as a (178mb) part. I am operating within PDM if that matters. Search through the forums, there seems to be some people working in several hundred mb large step files; I would NEVER try this.

Is there a thresh-hold on size where you just walk away w/o trying? Is there some magical setting or process I'm not utilizing that makes this easier?

Also, sytem specs: Windows 10, 64-bit, i7 3.6ghz (12 core), 32gig RAM, Quadro 4200.
