Weldment Total Weight still an issue

I have the need for an item weight column and a total weight column in my weldment cut list. In a weldment cutlist I can add a column, call it total weight then do an equation multiplying quantity  x item weight. Unfortunately I can do this by cell only and not by column.

Second option is to use a BOM table and select indented and detailed cutlist items. This is really nice. Problem is I want to show the drawing view as "as machined" and set the BOM table to "as welded". When I set to as welded all the item balloons are default to item 1, which is the overall weldment.

There are a few work arounds, such as, using the BOM type and doing manual entry on the balloons. Or doing the Weldment cutlist and doing manual entry on the total weight, or doing and equation for each item, every time.

There must be a better way. I know there are many people using weldments so someone must have this figured out. I can't believe Solidworks hasn't addressed this issue already.

Thanks for any help.
