Good morning,

I will try to explain this as best I can. Basically, my coworker opened up an assembly that he was working on for a while and some parts were missing. This assembly contains many sub-assemblies. All of the files are located on the server, where we store everything. We do not use any PDM package as of yet. We are using SW 2013 SP4 and have computers with i7 processors, 8 GB RAM, and radeon firepro something or other graphics cards with 1 or 2 GB on board video RAM.

1. Opens the assembly earlier yesterday and everything is fine, all of the components are there, etc.

2. Saves and exits said assembly.

3. Revisits assembly less than an hour later and a whole bunch of parts are missing.

4. Show with dependents and rebuilding not helping anything.

5. Open subassemblies and parts are missing in the subassemblies.

6. Nobody is working on these assemblies except for him. Nobody has deleted said components.

7. SW gives no internal ID warning or can not be found warning.

8. Missing parts appear to just have been straight deleted from subassemblies without cause.

We still can not fathom what happened and he is having to reinsert all of the missing parts into the subassemblies and re-mate the components.

The parts themselves are fine and are in the same location as they were before the error. The only problem is that they were no longer in the assemblies.

Any thoughts? Could a shortage of RAM cause SW to corrupt the assemblies? Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? Our vendor is clueless and we can not find anybody having a similar issue. I am hoping that this was just a user error and he did something he is not owning up to or did not realize he did or something. Any advice, assistance or suggestions are appreciated.
