I have an assembly that has sub assemblies in it (like 14 parts).   I need to try some large changes to it but dont wish to distory the original data.   Should I do a "Save as" and use the References tab to save them to a new folder?   If I do this can I work the new folder with out effecting the original parts versions?

I loose the conectivity to the drawings I have made if I do this, yes?  Unless I work the original folder and just use the "Save as folder" as an aircive?
