I imported a step file of a part from SDRC and I want to use the geometry from the imported part to recreate the part in Solidworks. How do I go about doing this? Do I need to create an assembly and import the part as a component and focus off the geometry on the part to create the new part, or is there an easier way to do this using the "Converting Entities" icon? I tried the assembly way and when I tried to use the Converting Entities icon I get a message about Only curves and points from this sketch can be projected onto a 3D sketch plane.
