I tried setting the SolidWorks background image to a photo of equipment from the shop floor. Then I set my model display style to unshaded with hidden lines removed. Using the camera view settings, I was able to loosely bring the two into alignment to compare how accurate my model is and visualize my changes against details that are not in my model. 

Has anyone else done this before? Are there any tools or techniques to make the camera alignment easier? Is there a way to show the background image in only the window with the camera view?
