Unable to install, invalid serial numbers

I have just purchased solidworks 2017/2018 student edition. I download the install wizard and that is as far as I can go.....

In the install process I am told that my serial numbers are invalid for each module of the installation. The display shows the following :

"Your serial number does not entitle you to SOLIDWORKS 2017. If your license is new, you may want to try again later. Otherwise contact your reseller to verify that the number is correct. You will still be able to choose the products you want to install, but you will not be able to download any installation files. If you continue without downloading enabled, you will need to provide a complete set of download source files or a DVD from which to install."

This is more than frustrating to me......it should be simple to download and install a program ! I have working internet.

I am using windows 10. I was using Solidworks 2016 before and am sure that my computer is able to run 2017/2018. I have unistalled 2016 as per the recommendations so now I am without solidworks near the end of term 4th year engineering........ I am not so familiar with the deeper workings of windows but when I uninstalled 2016 I also went into the registry and deleted solidworks files under the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder as per this method https://itstillworks.com/remove-solidworks-registry-files-8346550.html .

Any ideas ? Thanks.

Sam
