I was wondering how to interpret the turbulence intensity parameter. From my research, it is the the amount of "fluctuating" flow in relation to the main flow. Still, I find it hard to interpret and set meaninful scaling.

For example, I would assume to have high turbulence intensity in areas where I have vortices but this is not necessarily the case as shown in the attachment.
