I am attempting to model the stress between layers of thin film on a specific substrate when deposited at X temperature. I am not confident that SolidWorks can simulate this level of interaction between materials but I am exploring nonetheless.

I am using a 10 degree slice with cyclic symmetry fixtures on the ends. The grey material is 4"x0.5mm and the thin film under it is 4"x.00106mm. 

At the moment I am attempting to create appropriate meshes but due to the nature of these thin films I can never get one node on the edge of the thin film. I have played around with a handful of mesh control settings but cannot get anything that will represent a real answer. Thats not even considering if Solidworks can capture the nuances of coating adhesion. Thanks!
