I need assistance setting up a thermal simulation with a moving part.

I'm simply trying to simulate what happens thermally when a plastic cylinder moves from the hot half of a tube to the cold half.

1) Is this even possible?
2) How do I set up the movement of the plastic cylinder?
3) How do I set up the transient thermal simulation?

Any help or suggestions / tutorials would be greatly appreciated.
