I am attempting to install SolidWorks 2014 Educational on Linux under wine from an administrative image provided by my University. I understand that this environment is not supported, and is likely to have many issues, but I have seen evidence that some level of usability is attainable once past the installing stage. So, while I don't expect full assistance in getting it to work, I would appreciate help diagnosing the errors I have received.
The current issue I am experiencing is that upon running either
./sldim/sldIM.exe /adminclient /new /source "E:\sldim\admindirector.xml" /norunsw
or
startswinstall.exe /install /showui
I get the message:
"The Installation Manager is not running from a valid administrative image folder."
I have attached an installation log.
What are the potential causes for receiving this message under normal (i.e. Windows 7) conditions?
