The best enhancement is the one that you do not need to learn about

Update: The results are published here: https://www.engineersrule.com/large-assemblies-open-faster-than-ever-in-solidworks-2020/

For SW2020, the best enhancement is the one built in the software, which does not require users to learn a new tool or technique.

For Large Assemblies, simply upgrading to SW2020 improves opening times significantly compared to previous versions. That is true for both Resolved and Lightweight modes.

‌ and I spent quite a lot of time performing detailed testing in order to benchmark the improvements. We even studied each phase of the opening on its own:

  1. Initial Saved Graphics Load
  2. Components Load
  3. Update
  4. Graphics Generation

The subject of our testing was a mammoth assembly with over 80K components, all saved in SW 2017 version. We studied the opening of a configuration containing all parts and one without the hardware (only 40K components), without converting the files to SW 2019 or 2020.

The results will be published once the NDA is lifted.

Many thanks to ‌ for providing more information about what goes on under SW's 2020 hood.

A sneak pick of some of the results in the lightweight mode:
