Hi All
I have a part that has been giving me some issue when I go to use the cut sweep feature - upon searching the web - I've come across a couples posts which hint that possibility that the tool is a bit buggy - I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this -
To explain what I am doing - I have a part (a pen cap) which I want to scribe some lines onto for aesthetic treatments. I have gotten the cut sweep to work - however upon closer inspection I have noticed that the path is irregular and I am getting some strange faces in the cut (see photos attached)
This is not an overly complex part or operation so Im a big baffled. To explain some of the process and detail that I've gone through to arrive at my design intent:
- Cap is a triangular profile
- To get the path for my cut sweep I have created my sketch - projected it onto the cap and then created a 3D Sketch from the generated profile.
- I then created my cut profile (in this case a circle) to use with the 3D Sketch
- I can get this to work but depending on the settings I get some very strange results - the profile does not always follow the path so the cuts become irregular.
- In the instance where I did get this to work - I get the irregular faces in the cut path; if I go to try to correct this with replace face or similar feature, I get a crash.
Does anyone have any insight into why I might be getting this issue? is it a bug in the tool?
thank you -
Lenny
