Task scheduler was brought to my attention by some post here on the forum.
When I started to check it out and was thinking WOW, this will be great.
"
"CAD productivity software for carrying out tasks"
By not all tasks actual enhance productivity.
That is what I noticed when I started to actually put it to the test.
1. Using it to schedule print tasks : FAIL
It looks like you have to group the tasks to what output size you need.
In other words the program can't recognize the different sheet sizes per drawing let alone mixed sheet sizes in a drawing with multiple sheets.
This means that instead of a quick set up to do a repetitive job you first have to keep a list of what sheet, and sub-sheet needs to be printed to what size, then make seperate groups per sheet size all the while making sure that the plotter needed is set as the default plotter in windows because else you run the risk of not being able to select the printing size you need.
What's next? A calculator that you have to teach each time you use it that + means addition and - means subtraction.
2. Using it to export drawings (= read convert them to a different format such as dxf) : FAIL
There doesn't seem to be a way to have the drawings converted to actual 1/1 because the scheduler program is not able to detect what the scale is of the drawing and there for scale 1/1 in Solidworks means that it converts the drw so that the result in dxf or dwg has the correct dimensions (which is what it should be and one has to wonder why it isn't the default setting) but in Task Sheduler it means that the resulting border in dxf or dwg has the correct dimensions and the model is according to the scale that you used to get the model inside the borderlines. I guess nobody ever explained to them how modelspace/paperspace works
If anyone in this day and age produces drawings dxf (or dwg's) where the model is anything else then 1/1 and they would work for me they better have a darn good reason for it or I would have them practice the sentence "would you like fries with that" half a dozen times and send them packing.
